Looking and Finding

My last boss had a favourite saying: "There's Looking and Finding"  How many times have you put something away for future use, only to discover that you simply cannot find it ever again?  It's bad with tools and gadgets, but it's even worse when it's something you discovered while researching or simply browsing the internet. You know the feeling.  You're telling a friend about this great site.  It does everything. And it's called....um... There's looking and finding.

So what's the point?  The point is that del.icio.us, the social networking site has come up with a simple but brilliant idea.  If you save your favourite sites (and/or share them) on del.icio.us, you can add a neat little button to your Internet Explorer or Firefox toolbar which allows you to find them again by keyword.  Thats looking and finding!  Not only that, but if you want to search the entire del.ico.us network by keyword you can make your own "mini google" by entering the search term (I used "writing") and creating a unique database.  It takes some time to load, but once done it is a brilliant new way of searching for what you are looking for - and finding it!

You can find a link at the del.icio.us site, or go directly to deligoo (neat name, eh?) to download. The file is only 289Kb.  I have installed it on my toolbar, and it works just fine.  Give it a go.  Start looking and finding every time!
